Real Estate Researcher Predicts Virtual
Real Estate to Surpass Real World Real Estate in Quantity in the Future
For Immediate Release
Orlando,FL 22 April 2008 -- Real estate
researcher, educator, and technologist, Corey Leong, predicted today
that virtual world real estate will surpass real world real estate by
quantity in the future. The virtual world market has exploded onto the
technology scene and will continue to grow thanks to Second Life, There,
Kaneva, Whyville, and Hipihi to name a few. Late this fall, Sony's
"Home" virtual world will be launched on their PS3 video game consoles.
"Unless someone figures out how to grow real world land like in the
movie 'Superman Returns', virtual real estate will eventually surpass
real world real estate by quantity in the future, " conveyed Corey.
"My theory is based on current technology trends, Moore's Law, and
Metcalf's Law," he said. "Moore's law states that computing processing
doubles every two years while Metcalf's deals with the increase of value
or benefit users receive when more users use a technology such as a
fax machine or social network such as Facebook or MySpace," the
researcher said. "Faster computer processing and better graphical
capabilities will continue to improve into the future along with more
and more users joining online social networks which will give way to
virtual world experiences, " he said. "Once you're in a virtual world,
everyone looks for land to buy for a home or to start a business just
like in the real world," he explained.
"In addition, the net generation is adapting to virtual worlds as did
baby boomers did with email," he said. "Younger generations will help
fuel the increase of real estate in virtual worlds because they are
growing up with them and expect these virtual experiences as everyday
tools like text messaging, " he conveyed. "The generation following the
net generation will become know as the virtual generation for how they
work, live, and interact virtually online," he said.
