Second Life Residents to Resolve Real Estate Disputes Creatively
For Immediate Release
Orlando,FL 27 Nov 2007 -- The Real Estate Metaverse Association,
Remeta, has partnered with Open Dialogue, a real-world and
in-world mediation/arbitration and negotiation company
to offer Second Life residents a vehicle for resolving
real estate complaints and issues. Residents
experiencing problems contact Remeta by instant
messaging or notecard giving full details of their concern. Once
received, Remeta contacts all the parties involved to
inform everyone that a complaint has been filed. Open
Dialogue becomes involved if all the parties wish to
resolve their dispute. The filing fee for the
complaint is $500 lindens. Fees for mediation or
arbitration are additional.
"Remeta is very excited to partner with a
mediation/arbitration
company like Open Dialogue," said Remeta President
Corey Leong. "This service is primarily for the Second Life real
estate community and Remeta's hope is that this service will help
resolve real estate issues with professionalism and
care, " he said.
"Mediation offers the parties an opportunity to
resolve their concerns in a respectful, creative way
that often keeps the relationship intact afterward,"
said Ronnie Howell of Open Dialogue. "In contrast,
arbitration offers the parties the opportunity to
present their concerns to an individual who ultimately
renders a decision, much in the same way a judge might
do. With both processes the parties are often able to
avoid what may be a costly, messy, lengthy, unhappy
experience in the judicial system, especially when
judicial systems aren't quite sure how to handle
virtual world issues yet. Open Dialogue is looking
forward to helping people find peace, harmony and
restored hope in their real estate transactions
through this new partnership with Remeta."
